Who wrote this song? And who has performed it? I have a recording of what sounds like a choir or cast singing it, but I don't know where it's from (a play, movie, etc?) Here are the lyrics:

Say goodbye
When I can barely say goodnight
If I can hardly take my eyes from yours
How far can I go

Walk away
The thought had never crossed my mind
I couldn't turn my back on spring or fall
Your smile least of all

When I say always
I mean forever
I trust tomorrow as much as today
I am not afraid to say I love you
And I promise you
I'll never say goodbye

With dances on a crowded flow
While other dancers live from song to song
Our music goes on and on
And if I never leave your arms
I really would have travelled everywhere
For my world is there

When I say always
I mean forever
I trust tomorrow as much as today
I am not afraid to say I love you
And I promise you
I'll never say goodbye
How could I ever say goodbye...

Thanks so far!
Also, does anyone know the year it was written?

"The Promise (I'll Never Say Goodbye)", has been recorded by Martine Nievera, and also by Maureen McGovern, Judy Collins, Melissa Manchester, and Pete Seeger under the title of "I'll Never Say Goodbye".
I haven't been able to find out who actually wrote the song, but give me time...I'll keep looking.

I found this out for you ...

The Promise
Len Bourret - Poet and Writer

About "The Promise"...

"The Promise" is a song written and recorded on my
heart, for a well-known celebrity and Jewish friend,
who died of AIDS.

It's a song that I'd like Barbra Streisand to sing.
I would, however, like Matt Foreman to hear it. I
am sure that Steven has already heard it.
