If you are just playing, i'd say no. But if you are bothering people and asking for tips, then i'd say it is.

Not by me, but if you want a "real" answer it is this: it depends on where you are. In some places it is tolerated or accepted as part of the culture of the city. In some other places you might have to have a permit. In still others it might be completely off limits, such as in an ambulance receiving zone or something else like that. You need to check with your local authorities, and ask more than one - sometimes they give you the wrong answer. Good luck with your music if that is what you are doing!

I had the particular same situation bud. What you need to do first is to stay with the singing and enjoying one by one... Sing alongside with a tape, or do it a capella with the objective to hearken to your pitch greater proper. once you're instruction the guitar section make certain you follow it passable with the objective to play it without finding on the guitar, or so as which you will start enjoying from any given ingredient contained in the track. when you have faith snug with each and every the singing and the guitar, try bringing them mutually. and discover ways to circulate positive AND sluggish once you first follow them mutually. Ridiculously slow would desire to think ofyou've have been given to. if youin case you nonetheless have problems, than may well be you decide on a sprint greater advantageous be conscious, or in line with possibility which you will attempt rearranging the strum / determining trend to in positive condition you greater proper. basically top success!!

Yes it is legally considered panhandling. Although you are offering a service/entertainment, it is on public property.

Unless you write a song where you have a lyric that goes "Please give me money - can i have some money?" , you're safe. It's just you playing and doing your thing. You're just standing on a public sidewalk , and there's no law that says you can't play for your personal enjoyment. So what if you have a guitar case open! If people want to drop money in it it;s THEIR decision, you aren't making them do it.

Thats how I make a living. I am the most talented musician/songwriter in the world! (and also the smartest and sexyist person) If you do it, it's panhandling. If I do it, it's just proving my incredable talent to the world.

Probably, but you can call it practice or performing if it makes ya feel better. Besides, I bet you'll put a smile on people's faces, and what's wrong with that?

Yup.
Unless you are in a street music festival you are begging for money. In most cities you need a permit for it.
