It seems as though everyone is issuing platinum cards. The color no longer has any meaning. A card is good if it meets your requirements.
Is it free?
If you don't pay it off monthly, is the interest rate low?
Are there any benefits with the card, such as insurance, warranties, etc.
Lastly, what is the limit? You should never plan to reach the limit. It is there for extreme emergencies.

it all depends on what bank it is through.

The bank that issues the card decides your interest rate and credit limit, not Visa. Shop around. Usually the smaller banks, like the one you have your checking and savings account through, will give you a better rate than the big ones that send out mass mail ads.
