Tampons are VERY bad for your vaginal health, so if you have to choose between the two I would say pads, however why only between these two options when you have so many better options open to you?
Different menstrual options:
Commercial tampons
Organic tampons
Soft tampons
Sponge tampons
Homemade tampons
Padettes
Commercial pads
Organic pads
Cloth pads
Homemade pads
Padded panties
Period blankets
Rubber bell-shaped menstrual cups
Silicone bell-shaped menstrual cups
Homemade bell-shaped menstrual cups
Diaphragm as menstrual cups
Softcup menstrual cups
Free-flow
Free-flow layering
Free-flow instinctive
Extraction
…and many others
Perhaps you should research this before you make a choice.

I would wear a tampon if your flow isn't extremely heavy. I prefer to wear a pad at night so that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night and change my tampon.
I would reccomend always with wings for pads and tampax pearl for tampons.

personally, i think pads are better. they are more comfortable and healthier. but i think u should try both. if u like tampons then i would definetly use them when u go swimming =) also if u decide to wear tampons remember that u are not supposed to leave it in all day and make sure it gets changed at least every 6 hours.

you can use either. I perfer tampons because pads make me feel gross. I don't even notice the tampon. But they say that it's not good to wear a tampon all day. So at night I wear pads and they don't bother me. also when my perio is very light I just wear panty liners.

use tampons pads are gross
if you are wearing a tampon correctly you will not feel it
just make sure to change it often and DO NOT wear it more than 8 or 9 hours or you will get toxic shock syndrome read the paper in the box about TSS

Depends on what you're most comfortable with, how heavy the flow is, etc. I often wear both on the heavy days. I like the Playtex Pearl tampons the best.
