That's not Human Nature. It's just the ignorance of careless, greedy, paranoid, and foolish people tearing our world apart. The only doom and gloom is the way you are thinking of things right now. You only have so much time, energy, and resources available in your short lifetime to accomplish what you want to do with your life. If you waste your time and resources worrying about things that don't really concern you ( your life-span is barely 80 years, maybe 120 if you're really lucky ) then you miss out on the peace of mind that comes from just living for today.
Just because you don't have the scope or breadth of perspective to see our species surviving the next 1000 years doesn't mean you are correct in your assumptions. In all reality, the only fact you have to face up to is that YOU ARE GOING TO DIE, and the next 1000 years of life on this planet has nothing to do with you at all. Perhaps, you should focus on the present moment....since the future doesn't exist, only NOW exists.

Don't worry about the next 1000 years...you might want to focus on the next 100 years and let the next 900 years take care of themselves...while that is somewhat of a glib answer there is some truth to the idea that we should all take care of our own well being. Do not have hate in our heart for ANY REASON...this is all we can be sure that we can do...we really can't control anyone else...and it's hard enough to control ourselves...as for destroying ourselves...we smoke, we drink, we eat too much, we drive fast...these self destructive behaviors all result from DESIRE...we don't want to destroy ourselves but it comes as a result of attempting to gain something...usually something related to survival or pleasure...I think it is human nature to act before considering the consequences...I do agree that the earth as we know it today will be much different 1000 years from now than it is today...but I think humans will be around, though probably much fewer of us...oil will be gone..so cheap food will be gone and that will send those bordering on survival over the edge...before that happens I would expect much political upheaval...sad but this is our history...

One book you might consider reading to help you with this question is "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn. Modern-day humans have come to a belief that the Earth and everything around us is ours for the taking. We don't care to simply exist and take only what we need to survive. When you think about it, you don't see animals killing animals for any reason beyond survival (for food) and protection (self-defense). We on the other hand destroy the environment, hunt for sport, and its all okay when we base it on the odd idea that we are just taking what is rightfully ours.
I agree with you about our species being able to survive the next 1000 years, if we don't kill each other with bombs and other violence, we'll find some other way to do it (ie destorying nature to a point where humans can't adapt as fast as the environment changes)

It's not human nature per se, but rather the abuse of free will, and the hunger for power that unfortunately afflicts some people.
When many people make bad decisions, it's doom and gloom indeed. But we should not lose hope, as long as there are lots of good people out there. If you remember in the Bible, when asked, God said he would save a city even if there were only a few (was it 10 or 5 or smaller, I can't remember exactly) good people left.

ill be suprised if it lasts the next 30years.
People go on about terrorists is the biggest threat.
Nature is the biggest threat. All developed countries think they are in control. The biggest being America
Every time a fighter jet (or anything that burns oil) released into the air, more people will be killed than if a nuclear bomb went off.
Every one will remain ignorant till the days of famine will happen
Bless the real, all the rest get killed, who can you trust? only time reveals. Allah-Hu-Akbar

Well i think the fact is that these certain people have been told that there God is praising them for doing these extreme activities, when in fact it is the other way around. They say they are true to there religion but they can't be if they go around killing Innocent people because in their religion it tells them that it is WRONG to do this.

Even in nature animals are terrotorial. I would think that this has something to do with the things that are going on with the world today. Even though we are far advance than our lower cousins of the animal kingdom-we continue to have such basic instincts.
