Like why make plans or say you can help out or do something when you really don't have the time, or you have to sqeeze the other people in. To me that doesn't do the people justice and often ends up with you not doing what you said you would or meeting the people you said you would help needs. Why don't people just say "no I can't" or "not this day how about tomorrow"

There are more than one answers to this question. One reason may be that a person may truly have good intentions and really want to help but realize too late that they have bit off more than they can chew. Another reason may be that they accept these tasks so that they can look good, or look helpful, knowing full well they have no way to do the things they promised. Either way, feelings can get hurt in the process.

Personally, if it is something I want to help with maybe I underestimate the time it will take to do the gazillion other things that are going on. Some times it is just poor time judgement or management...others the person my just agree to something because it sounds good and to satisfy you for the moment. I hate when it is obviously that. Yesterday I had the same problem, I don't think they were lying but they did not make a real effort to keep their word.

Bottom line is Money does not grow on trees. Sometimes you get into the frenzy of getting what you want when you want it instead of saving for it like our parents did and they only way we can pay for it is by credit card. The same amount of money in the bank earns between 2 and 4% interest but our credit cards charge between 18 and as much as 28% if you default plus $40 late fees and then you have nice stuff and can't afford to pay it after a while

These are the same people who have a nice home & nice cars but are in debt up to their eyeballs. No concept of reality it is all about the appearences.

People think they can have everything, and that they can have everything right now.

That's also how credit card debt gets so out of hand.

It's truly an affliction of our society.
