What kind is it?
Go to the apple forums, they have lots of infomation.
Get a paperclip and clear out around the buttons so that they aren't stuck down in one spot.

Hold the Menu button and the Select button for around 10 seconds, or until it resets. I had this issue before, and a quick reset should solve it.
Note: Resetting does not erase the music, it just restarts the ipod.
You can also possible have a button jam, for example it is held down on "next."

yes u should reset it, dont worry ure songs won't be deleted.
1. place the ipod on a flat surface.
2. use both hands, press both the "middle circle button" and " the "menu" button at the same time. Keep holding these two buttons untill it resets.
Hope this helped, update and tell me if it worked.

if resetting doesnt work (in my case once the ipod just didnt want to reset at all, just plug it in to your computer. That can solve the problem too.

i dont know what would be going on but maybe you should turn it off and then try charging it again and maybe it might work. if it doesnt call iTunes or something.
