Foundation or base is merely to even out uneven skin tones. It also helps to cover any blemishes. If you don't have these problems there is really no need. You will have nicer skin longer if you don't start using it. my only issue is my skin gets a little shiny in the afternoon sometimes and I just use a little translucent powder and the problem is solved. hope that helps! :)

Make up base is just that. A Base for making the skin look all the same. This takes care of imperfections of color and line which cannot be fixed one at a time. In addtion, the base gives the other parts of the makeup a color with which to match.
Once the base is applied, other enhancers such as rouge and highlight can be used to give depth to the skin and shape of the face. Without Base, these would not work as well.

I'm a guy, and i dont put on make ups. but i have a degree in dermatology and took up integumentary subjects...
you put make-up base to protect the skin.. some make up are so concentrated leading to allergies and sometimes burning sensation...
you can put moisturizer or just press powder...

so that, when you apply your foundation or pressed powder or loose powder, it will be even and will not be in "patch". and also when your make up wears off, and when you touched up, it will be 'neater'.
for some, make up base, they will use just moisturiser, to protect the skin and keep it moisture ( for dry skin, the make up will stay on)
for those want to protect skin against the sun, they will apply sun block, to avoid getting a tan or dark.

As in primer?? You don't "need" it, but it can help fill in large pores, acne scars, etc. It's main purpose is to provide a nice, smooth surface for foundation.

It protects your skin from getting harmful and dust and other things in the air into your pores. if dust and other air products get into your pores, it clogs them and then you get zits, and no one wants zits, so just take the extra simple step to on foundation.
