Fool on the Hill is a great song. Lennon-McCartney were miles ahead of their time when it came to songwriting.
Give a listen to Sons of Champlin's song Rooftop. Bill Champlin sings about the Fool and how he will lose his hill to developers. (It is on the Loosen Up Naturally album, now out in CD) It's one of my favorite songs and the Sons are my favorite rock/acid jazz/mellow SF band.
