For those men that do love porno mags, there are numerous possible reasons. (I'll leave out the term "most" below but assume I'm not referring to "all" men.)
1. Men are very visually stimulated and get a rush of blood to their genitalia by visually seeing procreative acts. It's been scientifically tested that the amount of male ejaculate increases if a man is viewing pornography involving multiple men with a single woman. 2. Men get advice and ideas on how to please a woman. By viewing pornography, men are, in effect, getting educated about the female anatomy and how to interact with this "foreign body."
3. There is a rebellious aspect to looking at porno magazines. "Dear old dad" never left his Playboy magazines out on the table when grandma came to the house. But boys knew where to find the magazines. Owning a porno magazine symbolizes a man's sense of being a man. Boys can't have them and women don't like them so it's the proof of masculinity.
4. Magazines, as opposed to videos, are easily hideable, transportable, and quickly destroyed, if needed. They also don't make sounds like video/dvd's. Thus, masturbation need not wake up the neighbors.

basically, i think it's this. it's safe. if you're married, dating a girl or whatever, basically and i know i'll catch hell for saying this, but no matter if you're dating a model, there is going to be a girl come by your office or in your office or walk down the street or whatever, and you're going to think, man, she's hot.

you can't approach her, you can't email her, you can't call her or text her, because if you do you've started a relatinoship and bingo...you're already in one and you'll lose that one for something that might never develop.

most of the times the magazines accompanies you into the restroom somewhere (or the images that were blazed into your memory) and you masturbate or when you're with your girl who doesn't for some reason measure up to the one in the magazine, you picture you're making love to her.

that's pretty much why guys love the magazines. they can go ALL THE WAY without disrupting their lives. it's safe, no diseases and there are no hooks and a $10 magazine is cheaper than a $1000 hooker.

Being a big man, I have never really had many women show much interest in me. With pornography it is different because the woman who is in the magazine does not care what your physical attraction status is. She only has eyes for you, or at least that is what she portrays. Simple. Porn is an addicting drug. It is the worst kind of drug. A man can eventually get drugs like crack and methamphetamine out of his system (assuming he does that), but images of porn will stay in his brain forever.
