It is not, and it can never be in a world which is continuously evolving from falsehood to wards the truth and from darkness to wards the light. Light and wisdom constitute the bliss, and not darkness and ignorance.

Intelligence hurts, but it doesn't hurt as much as ignorance.
Imagine you were flying on an airplane, and you've been flying for a bit - and then you look down and you see that your "fuel gauge" is stating "low fuel you have 25 minutes to land and refuel."
You have 3 options.
1. You can pretend that the fuel gauge is broken, because you haven't flown that airplane before and it could just be wrong - plus, it's so nice up here, it'd be nice to fly around the farmland one more time. It must be the fault of the gauge, of course, not your logic.
2. You can pretend that your airplane is different from other airplanes, and that because it's your airplane it won't need any gas once it runs out, since the wind will carry you away and fly happily ever after. That's just how life works right?
3. You can be smart about it, turn around land refuel and by then too late, probably just park the plane and come back some other day.
When you were smart - you didn't get to enjoy life as much as the other two options. It wasn't "blissful" to do the right thing, or be smart about it.
But who do you think got to live a little longer, and possibly, enjoy it again tommorow?

Depends on the circumstance. If you're ignorant of the fact that there's a guy standing behind you about to lunge a knife into your back, then I'd say that no ignorance is NOT bliss.

Ignorance could be bliss. Not knowing about the evil things could protect you from fear. But I on the other hand, would not be happy at all if I was ignorant. I would always envy those with knowledge and try to get to their level.

Only when the knowledge is painful, then the memory of the ignorance seems bliss.

Ignorance of true knowledge that is of the stature of wisdom is never bliss. Ignorance of infra-knowledge, unsaturated knowledge that is of the status of information, is most of the times - not always - bliss.

"ignorance is mere privation through which nothing can be produced. it is a vacuity in which the mind sits motionless and torpid for want of attention; and without knowing why, we rejoice when we learn, and grieve, when we forget."
i believe this should explain the how the warped postulate of "ignorance is bliss" comes about. and this should also seek to clarify and debunk this postulate as to why it is false.

No, its not. It a choice. A very bad one at that. I love people that choose that path. It just makes my life that much easier in the long run. Ignorance is not having an original thought. Sheep just waiting to be taken advantage of. Ever heard 'lambs to the slaughter'?
