Well, maybe...
But everyone have different aspect of their own, right? besides, if there is no defender, I can't imagine how many goals will there be per match...
But you're quite true, if a striker scores a goal, the camera will most likely be pointed to him.
But there is another fact... MIROSLAV KLOSE, who is the top scorer, isn't recruited by any clubs, while CANNAVARO, who is a defender, was recruited by Real Madrid... Just bcoz Italy won!!
Not that I hate Italy... but c'mon... Give Miro a chance...
I really want to see him play in a better club... He's my #1 fav player!!!

strikers get much of the attention because matches are won on goals, there's no scoring for blocks no matter how spectacular they are. that’s just how the cookie crumbles. plus, i guess you might say goals are more visually appealing although there was a john terry block in the last WC that i thought was wow!....same results, if we take a bit further and compare strikers with midfielders. strikers are the hitmen and their "kills" are just more exciting to see, but personally i like the men in the midfield 'cuz i think the position is a lot more difficult to play, demands more versatility and overall smarts from a footballer, plus if his team leans on him for goals, a good midfielder should be able to score too. to name 2 of the MFs with great scoring abilities: ronaldhinho, zidane

strikers score goals while defenders assists goalkeepers to save goal. defenders are as important as strikers but matches are won on goals and that's why strikers are given all the limelight, which i don't like.

It dependse of the game , defender is not supose to show miraculus passes, he is supose to stop forwards to score(like when Henry couldn't do nothing against Italy ) players like Terry, Stam, Maldini, Cafu,.... were in spotlight all the time!!!!!!

I'll agree, the defender is a necessary position to have while it is not a glory position, glory positions are the strikers and goalkeepers. If your defenders suck chances are your team will suck (or at least blow leads).

It takes more skills to be an offensive player. Defense is, of course, very important. But to be success full, all a defender has to do is kick the ball away. An offensive player has to create.

Deffenders have a big part in the game and they are also in the spotlight, they save what could be sudden death for a team.

Yes, that's very common. But I've seen a shirt that says, "Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships!" Heck, yes! I agree with that!
