Wayne Rooney more than likely stated that comment to try to settle things down before the start of the League. They are on the same team and MU will not want bad blood between the two. With that said C Ronaldo has a huge amount of talent and ability. But cannot be blindly defended either. He has let other parts of the game ( simulation) creep into his play to a degree that damaged his reputation this WC. And no one can deny it got quite monotonous in the end. If he lets go of all that and just plays football he will gain respect and not criticism. As for the wink it had everything to do with the outcome of Rooney leaving the pitch. Lets not forget Rooney is a great talent too and anyone would see it as a plus that he was removed from the match. These two boys are young and will mature as players in the next few years. Hopefully come 2010, we will see the best of them both in a more favorable light.

Ronaldos wink was all about the battle which he won by getting Rooney sent off. Rooney said it has nothing to do with his sending off because he has to play with him in English Premeir League for Manchester United

The wink had nothing to do with Rooney...he looked over at the bench and realised what a hottie Nuno Gomes is. Maybe not the best time to make his move but Ronaldo is a go-getter...someone please warn poor Nuno ;)

He winked at his coach because it was a pre-empt to wind Rooney up and get a reaction. His wink to his coach was like saying "job done".

Assumptions are only assumptions. Only he knows what that was all about.
In response to your question, I think that IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON. Everyone makes mistakes. We all need to realize that. He is only 21 and if that was one of his, I'm sure he has learned something from it. He is not only a very talented player, but also an intelligent, caring young man! My blessings to him!

Rooney's stupid. Wayne Rooney got a red card and go sent off. Crisitano Ronaldo then looked at his team on the bench and winked at his coach. Portugal won the game. DUH, it wasn't an accident.
