I believe what you are asking is that you are receiving emails and that you're concerned that they can capture your password if you open them? Though it is possible with various worms that once opened will try to sniff your computer for passwords, it is more likely that you'll encounter emails that have attachments or weblinks that you should be aware of.

These are quite common and an example I've received several times claimed it was from paypal. This email didn't have a attachment, but it had a weblink that the user would click and it would bring up a webpage that looked exactly like Paypal's webpage, but it wasn't. Two things to be aware of if you encounter this: If the email is legit, most likely they wouldn't be emailing to ask for verification on personal information and they usually have a phone number or some contact information to for which you can verify that this is legit to begin with. Secondly, websites that transmit personal information are usually secured through encryption and use https not http on the web address.

In summary, it is possible that opening emails can be a threat, but it is mostly through opening attachments and weblinks. To help reduce this, use an updated antivirus and or spam blocker and use common sense. If it is asking for personal information it doesn't hurt to do your own investigative work and call them to make sure it is legit.

Generally it will not be very easy for someone to break your account, but there are some persons who use their intelligence in these activities, for them it may be possible. For that it does not take you to open you account regularly or not opening it.
