Blood testosterone level is highest in the morning, hence erections first thing in the morning. He can't help it.
*****
Do people really believe it's because the guy needs to pee? Yes, men need to pee first thing in the morning, just like women do but this has nothing to do with why he gets an erection.
Answer this: if a morning erection is because of the need to go to the toilet, why don't guys get an erection everytime they need to go to the toilet? The answer is that morning erections have nothing to do with needing to urinate. It's all hormonal.

Often referred to as ' morning wood' , the more formal term is nocturnal tumescence and seems to correspond with REM periods of sleep. The question of why is often claimed to be urine retention. Most guys know the frustration of waking up with a stiffy and having to pee like crazy, and although not impossible to urinate with a hard on, there's nothing more amusing than watching a guy trying to lean as far forward as possible to get that thing aimed somewhere near the bowl. Given a few experiences like that and it's easy to see why most guys would come to this erroneous conclusion. However, a more likely cause, or need, for nighttime stiffys seems to be oxygen. According to a well decorated sex research psychologist, Al Cooper, ' The penis lives in a low oxygen state. Nature takes care of this by making sure the penis gets enough oxygenated blood through erections.' This is not a 'written in stone' theory since the argument could be made that there are more erections at night because oxygen assists with the erectile chemical processes and oxygen levels are higher during sleep.

It is generally a completely physical reaction and not anything to do with being in the mood. However, once the bladder is comfortable (as a full bladder is a common cause of a morning glory) it can result in a lovely way to start the day.
Most young men suffer from instantaneous (and often embarrasingly unwanted) erections throughout the course of the day. This can be a laugh - and something nice to relieve with a partner - or a complete embarrassment if it occurs in totally unsuitable surroundings.

In order to have sex a male penis must be erect. Erections occur when more blood is pumped into the special tissue in the penis than can leave. The arteries carry blood to the penis and the veins carry blood away from the penis. When the brain gives the command the arteries dilate (become very large) and more blood is pumped into the penis than can be carried away by the smaller veins. The result is the penis becomes engourged with blood and becomes erect. When erect it becomes more sensitive and sexual arousal is easier. In the morning he wakes up with a very hard erection that is the result of pressure from a full urinary bladder on the veins in his penis. The full bladder pinches off the veins that carry blood out of the penis this means that blood can't get out of the penis so it becomes erect. Since the penis is sensitive when aroused you can take advantage of the moment and reach over and play around a little and your sleepy boyfriend will most likely become very interested in having a morning quicky. He may have to go to the restroom and empty the bladder before he can get into some serious sex.

Erectile Dysfunction can be devastating to men, and unfortunately, millions of men suffer from the condition. Learn how to cure erectile dysfunction https://tr.im/mEwhb
If you go to the doctor to talk about the issue, you’re likely to get put on one or more of the popular medications used to treat the condition. While they can be effective (temporarily), these medications come with a raft of side effects, some of which are decidedly unpleasant. Even worse, these medications aren’t really a cure, they’re more like a temporary workaround.
Worst of all, they tend to be really expensive. Month after month, you’re having to pay to work around your condition. That’s what the Big Pharmaceutical companies want.

it can be cause by pressure in the bladder. The full bladder puts pressure on the prostate and can cause an errection.
Some people refer to the prostate as "the male g-spot." If you slide a finger in his a-ss, and press forward (toward his dick) you will be pressing on the prostate - it feels gooood.
Guys who don't like are are often just idiots - they are paranoid that it someone makes them gay or that people will think they are gay.
if you notice that he has an erection, just ride it - that's what it's there for.

mostly a pee thing, but the body sends out blood to all the outer limits to keep them warm, when we dont move a lot. As we are the only animal without a bone in our dicks, it swells and hence a morning woody. most mornings if you jump him he will not be able to *** until he has a piss.
nothing to do with wet dreams, only immature kids get them.

The best way for you to take care of that is to just get on it or give him a hand job. He'll get in the mood.

It's mostly to do with hormones that are at their peak in the morning hours. It's involuntary and is perfectly normal. Actually it's a cause for concern if one DOESN'T get it in the morning.
It doesn't necessarily show arousal - as you have noticed with your boyfriend.
