Corruption could be curtailed if people could rebel against the government and put the leaders on trial for imprisonment or death.

Yes, it is true and fact that if Government act in Corrupt fassion, always there be some revolutionary faction pushing against them. India is the largest democratic country of the world and we are proud to be. But we ashamed to the fact that the Corruption is practice at all level from fourth grade employee, attendar to Ministers, Army, Navy Airforce. Our soldiers sacrified their lives at Kargil, but our N.D.A., Government more particularly Mr. George Fernandeze, the then defence minister, took huge commission in bribe, for purchasing Coffins for the soldiers. N.D.A. Government was Coffin-Chor.

In the USA the two party system acts as a watchdog of the other party. It is the duty of the [free] ptess to expose the corrupt, so we have some checks on corruption. Sometimes things don't work and corruption becomes rabid. Most voters will vote out a party afer it has been in power believing its becoming corrupt, and they are usually right. Especially in Texas.

Whether corrupt or not, every government will be perceived by some citizens as corrupt or meriting change by force or violence. Bush is wrong in his repeated mantra of "democracies are peaceful." I guess he forgets about our homegrown terrorists. Maybe he has early Alzheimer's/Republican neocon blindness.
