to pathfinder.....not all drugs are bad ie prescription....and im a doctor my livelihood does not depend on the pharmaceuticals they are just a part of medicine , besides if you ask most doctors they disagree with how pharmaceutical companies distribute and advertise their drugs...and obviously you are fit and healthy and require no drugs to help you get better i.e.cancer etc!!!!

Drugs are not a new or evil thing to society!
The ancient Egyptians use to smoke recreational drugs. We must remember that our brain is a chemical receptor naturally producing most of the drugs we classify as narcotics. There for taking controlled levels of these chemicals to feel better is not an unnatural or negative thing.

What is new and evil is drug abuse. Taken the wrong way it triggers violence and death.
If properly educated and legalised, the use of drugs could be a much less dangerous thing. And it would collapse the underworlds monopoly over drugs!

Drug abuse and drug crime is our own creation!

All drugs are BAD, even the prescriptions ones. Sooner, or later these poisons will breakdown your your bodily processes and organs after extended use. You will never hear this from doctors, or pharmaceutical companies, because their livelihood depends on dispensing drugs. I just saw an ad on tv last night that there is a law firm mounting a class action lawsuit against the makers of Fosamax, the osteoporosis medication, because the medications is causing deterioration to the jaw bone. If you watch tv at all, you see more and more drug companies being sued for unsafe drugs which are causing more damage than doing good.

MJ has calmed me down, made me laugh, enjoy music and movies a lot more (Lived in Switzerland during the time it was legal, and what a good time). Take a group of potheads and a group of alcoholics...who will end up violent and cause ruckus? Alcoholics of course. You will never hear of a story where a guy was high and tried to start a fight. Legalize it...people will get along better.

yes drugs can do some good- in the sense of medicine some drugs help to ease otherwise excrutiating pain

even illicit drugs have some advantage if you are open minded and well informed - you just have to be prepared to accept the consequences

for example - lsd can open the mind and make you see beautiful things- but if you are in a negative place to start with then dont go near it.

the problem as i see it is that we treat so many things as taboo- this then makes them attractive to the young and rebellious and therefore instead of them making informed sensible choices they enter into a dangerous uneducated situation

Absolutely! Antibiotics have cured many infections, insulin keeps diabetics alive, thyroid makes lives so much better, blood pressure meds have extended lives by decades,anti-inflammatories have stopped death due to anaphylactic shock and have allowed people to overcome arthritis, pain killers have allowed people to live with less pain, anesthetics have permitted surgeries which have saved countless lives, and anti-depressants have permitted people to deal with depression, etc etc.

In 1903, the average life was 47 years of age. Now it's more like 78!

illicit drugs no, none
prescribed drugs, some

clearly prescribed medication has had its benefit, although the way the drug companies work and the profit involved you could question some of their ethics, illicit drugs although for some countries it's major part of the revenue for survival- it has done no good, as the only ones who get rich as the people at the very top, the land workers/farmers are still poor, as for the global community it has caused poverty, crime and personal destruction.

yes they have done some good. like weed for example. i know someone, no not me, who has crones disease and had almost have of his intestines removed. he is suppose to take 6-8 pills a day every day for the rest of his life and hasn't for almost 2-3 years. the weed calms his stomach and keeps his stress level down that also helps his stomach not get upset. so yes i am one person who thinks weed is a good drug. as for all the other illegal drugs they have no good effects at all. at least when you want to quit smoking weed you don't have to go through withdraw and your body goes all crazy

It depends on which ones specifically you are reffing to - but yes there are some drugs that are doing us good - regrettably I have to take warfarin (it's an anti- coagulent) it is this which is keeping me alive. Without it my blood would congeal in my veins and arteries and I would have died some time ago.
