When did everyone lose their mucus plugs? (Assuming, that you have lost it before)

i started losing mine a little at a time for a few weeks before i had my baby. As it turned out i was losing it because i was dialating already. the day i had her i went in for my 39 week appt and i was dialated to 4.5. the week before that i was at 3 and the week before i was at 2. basically you lose that plug as soon as the cervix dialates enough for it to come out. for some women that doesnt occur until their water breaks. and for some it may happen a lot sooner. especially if it not a first pregnancy (as women tend to dialate quicker with subsequent pregnancies).

My wife lost her mucus plug about three days before her water broke.

A mucus plug is basically described when your water breaks while in labor. So it happens when you have a baby.

Both of mine dislodged when my water broke. 40 weeks and one day with the first baby and 34 weeks with the second baby.

another question:

is it possible to have your water break and not notice or not have the plug dislodge?

i think my water broke this morning, but my dr is not convinced since it hasn't continuously gushed or leaked. more like little uncontrollable gushes-4 of them.

thanks!
