You don't.. Look at the divorce rate.. Marriage is somthing that needs to be worked on to be kept alive and going.. In todays society too many people are looking for instant gratification. And in the begining of a marriage there may be some of this.. But once the honeymoon is over look out.. I only dated my wife a year before we got married.. She became pregnant with our first child.. I was scared and thought this is never gonna work. Did I love her?? Yes!! but for how long... Well it has been over 10 years and alot of people lost money on this one.. Our love grows stronger every day.. Sure there were tough times.. But WE worked through them and became stronger because of them.. You will never know if they are the right person but if you try hard enough, love in an unconditional manner can conquor all..

Well Since you seem to be a nice person I'm going to be nice and not answer your question. I have been married 3x. Or maybe I should and you do the opposite, now that might work. Have a good one. Well the first one I see fire works. After the flames died down oh well. The second well he got me through my son, then he grew up. The third one I just thought I shouldn't repeat one or two he gave me an ultimatum I fell for it, hey it was different. Single for 10 yrs now. Think you can do the opposite:-)

Basically I believe you do just know. I am not married either, but i want to believe that the two people just fit together. The chemistry is there, you both want some of the same things in life. You love each other. You get along, Life is too short. There is someone for everyone.

I met my husband ten years ago and he was in love with me back then and I broke his heart. When we finally reconnected I just felt very strong about him and knew that all these years he still loved me and I loved him. I also knew that not only would he treat me right and love me the way I needed, he would also be a great father. We were friends first then lovers. We have a deep understanding of each other. and that's how I knew I wanted to be with him forever. Or at least for the next ten years or so. I'm so scared of divorce. But you just go with the flow and take it one day at a time.

well for me it was i just knew there were absolutely no doubts what so ever, I just felt it in my deepest part of my gut and heart. we've been together now 13 yr and going stronger than ever. I think if you have been married once before you learn and are more en-tune to your feelings. I know I hated dating and being single. It is OK for some people.
I don't think everyone is marriage material.
This is just my opinion.

You know when that person makes you feel alive and free and a better person when you are around them. When you realize that you would anything for them, including give your life for them if necessary. When nothing else matters, only you and the other person and you don´t care what anyone else thinks or says or how many people may be against it.

Sometimes, you just feel that you know, there is no test as per say. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't. Two people have to work at it. One person cannot work on a relationship by themselves. You cannot each be doing your own thing.

I was hit by lightening. Our eyes met from a distance, and I felt something that I had never before felt and later he introduced himself, shook my hand and I got butterflies, then when he was gone I couldn't take my mind off him, and I found out after he found me again that he had told his mom that same night he had met the girl he was going to marry........and he did!
I think the heart knows.......and thats a pretty tough thing to deny.

well its like this you will know when you wake up in the morning looking forward to seeing the one you love right next to you, look forward to racing home to be with them, when they are away you must call them 10 times to say i love you,,you can complete each others sentences, you know each others favorite things,,you can smell them when they are not around, you can laugh and cry and share the most intimate secrets and not get embarrassed...you can trust each other wholely, when they around you dont care about anything else around...no jealous feelings when she/he talks about their past.its called the past because thats where it is...when you catch yourselves holdign hands coming up the driveway..and last but not least you can see the fire in each others eyes and can make the best and most memorable sex each and every time...
