Whenever I watch that movie, I get annoyed because besides Doc Oc's metal arms, he has no 'super strength'. When Spiderman is fighting him on the building and punches his face, Doc Oc should have been dead (given Spiderman's strength). Any thoughts?

Keep in mind that Spiderman held up a multi-ton wall (end of SP2), a cable car w/ 10+ people in it (SP1), etc.

I know it's just a movie and that we need to 'enter that universe' but, once that universe is defined, it needs to stay consistent with its laws in order to be believable.

the first time spidey fought doc ock, he did knock him out with one punch (actually it was the second time but still in doc ocks first appearance). over the years they have made ock tougher to prolong the battles.
a looong time ago there was a What If comic titled "What If Spider-Man became/was a murderer". In this book Spidey killed a guy (it may have been the burglar, i don't remember exactly who) by hitting him too hard. After he killed him, he learned to control his punches during his fights so as to not hit "normal" folks full strength and thus kill them. so i take that as a reason that ock is able to take a few punches from spidey. hope that helps.

Spider Man Punch

Same principle as when Superman hits someone. They always pull punches so heads don't start exploding. Batman Year One has a good example of a new hero learning to control the power used on normal folks so they don't kill him.

Yeah that bugged me too.. Spidey's punch would have, if not killed Doc Ock, knocked him out, or at the very least left him stunned, long enuf for Spidey to web him up tight..
But *then* the film would have been over!

Spider man is NOT a killer. He pulled his punches as do all super heroes. Don't want to give the kids a bad impression about the good guys do we?
