Mine was my dad's cast off....63 Ford Galaxy. It was a car though, it got me around. It was more than most of my friends had. I had lots of fun in that old Ford.

First was a Ford Model A and then a 1950 Ford flat head 6.

I drove other cars before that including a 1947 Ford 2 door. Of course before that I drove the tractor on the farm which happened to be a Ford.

On the farm I began driving about 1951 and on the road about 1955.

Diesel Volkswagen rabbit hatch back with a manual sunroof in robin egg blue (everyone called it "Smurf" blue). I think the car was from the 60s. I didn't have hub cabs so my grandfather painted the rims the same matching smurf blue color. It was stick and couldn't go over 45 miles per hour, yeah and the highway by my house was 55- I got lots of waves on my way to work and school. And the sunroof leaked so badly, we use to wear raincoats and hold up an umbrella in the car going to school. And let me tell you there is nothing like being a 17 year old girl and having to pull up for gas in the "Truck" area.
But I loved it because it was all mine!! I paid $50.00 dollars for it, which doesn't sound like much but I worked on a farm picking blueberries for it- that was 200 pounds of blueberries when I was in high school!!

1953 Chevy BelAir, straight six, three on the tree, suicide knob. Two tone green, rear wheel skirts. She gleamed in the sun! Then my Dad borrowed it. A Semi ran a stop sign and T-boned her. She was totalled. I was crushed, my date-mobile was dead!Oh, my Dad was okay.
