I am currently arguing with my husband over this. I think it is harder for a dad to see their teenager in a short skirt. I think as long as it is decent and nothing is showing then it's probably ok - where I'm from all th eskirts are slightly above knee but speaking as a mum an obviously ex schoolgirl I can guarantee that if you force her to wear a longer skirt then she will just turn up the waistband when she gets to school and it may end up even shorter than she originally wanted!

In today society Parents are judged on what clothes their children are wearing... 15 year olds want to wear what the other kids are wearing. I have been working in childcare for over 20 years and i feel that as long as the skirt isnt tooo short. 12 inch long should be ok.. as long as its just above the knee..this should be sufficient. Also you might need to check the rules on uniform at the school or your daughter might get into trouble if it is tooo short.. she might get sent home untill she wears the appropriate clothing length>>>

Whoa! I just did the math on the 10 cm answer and I realized it was 4" above the knee. The I measured that on myself and sat down (which will make the skirt go up a bit) . . . To me, that's advertising your wares. And if you get any shorter than that, you're in the length they sell on eBay as sex/play costumes.
I'd give her an inch above the knee -- two at the most. But thanks to your question, and the fact that it got me thinking, I am now beginning to consider the possibility that I may be becoming old and puritanical at 38! Yikes! When the heck did that happen??

Well, assuming you trust your daughter's judgment as a student and a person, i would let her go a few inches longer than the school's policy on just how short a girl's skirt can be. That's to allow for any sort of shrinkage when you wash the skirt.

Your 15 year old needs good parental guidance, even though she may say she does not need it.
Her skirt should be as short as it does not appear indecent, when she sits or stoops down to pick up something.
She has got all the time in the world to dress, when she can be held responsible for the consequences.

Do you know anyone else already at the same school? Ask their mum how short their skirt is. You dont want her to look silly if she is the only one with a long sensible skirt.

Whatever length you feel happiest with. You are a parent, that means you tell her what to do and wear, not the other way around. If your daughter has got to 15 and she doesn't know that you tell her , not the other way around then you, and she, are past help. Parents with young children, under 5, please note. Being a parent has major responsibilities but it all boils down to this:- You are the boss, once you allow by default, the child to dictate to you then it'll end in tears. It may seem the easy way to give in to a child but believe me it has repercussions down the line. Once the child rules you then your life won't be worth living.

Not to short unless you want her to send out the wrong message. The skirt should come at least to her finger tips when she is standing. You also need to find out what the schools required length is.

THINK ABOUT THIS - besides dressing to keep cool, what are the advantages of a short skirt.?
Does she also want a tatoo on her cheek or arm?........
or maybe wants to smoke?.........
People in hot humid countries are not wearing short skirts at all. The shortest you get there is above ankle !!
ill tell you whats the hardest part......pier pressure "daddy but my friends have it"

you're the parent...how short do you feel comfortable with for your 15 year old daughter? if when she bends over and there is a possibility her panties would show, way too short. just at knee level, or slightly above should be ok.
