Yes, and they are so much easier to grow. I love roses but they can have so many pests and problems I've stopped adding them to my garden. Tulips, on the other hand, are so easy and carefree I use them throughout my garden for spring blooms.

They flower at different times of the year so in a garden you can have both...there are a huge amount of varieties of both...I've never been a rose fan in the garden ...we inherited some in a really well established garden a few years back now...they took a lot of work to get them back to scratch...I love tulips, some fantastic colours and shapes...roses, the old fashioned varieties do have scent...I love climbing roses more than the bush type.

Tulips are beautiful, but last a short time, roses give off a wonderful fragrance, and last just a little long. But grow in different seasons. It is a matter of choice

It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Tulips flower earlier than roses.
Tulips take almost no care.
Roses can have really lovely smells
(Tulips have NO smell, mostly)
Roses can climb over a trellis, and provide a stunning perfumed archway.
Both can be cut and put in vases.
Both come in a whole lot of colors.

I like them better! They are less common. The bad thing is that they fade soon, they're very sensitive (if you hold them in your hand for too long, they'll die sooner; I wanted to make my wedding bouquet of tulips, but I couldn't because of that).
Roses are more classic though, and gorgeous as well.
I think I like tulips better because they're not that common and they can make a garden look soooooo beautiful! They're not thorny and are not bushes, just the flower. So they're pure beauty to me.

Yes! Tulips last twice as long as roses do, and aren't nearly as cliche' as roses. Plus, they are less expensive, so you can give twice as many!! :)
