You bring up a very good question, i love the answers I'm seeing.

I have many favorites though my favorite is probably the Flash. i like the whole line, the story, history, the powers, and they've all been my favorites since birth. My favorite speedster, Bart Allen, which is currently taking over the flash position, I believe has much potential. Reading infinite Crisis and teen Titans I was afraid he was lost. imagine my happiness when finding him in Flash #1!. If you are as interested in the flash as me, feel free to e-mail and we can be geek buddies. that goes for anyone who reads this.

Along my comic loving life time i have also loved, respected and envied many other heroes. I remember gambit being my favorite for a long time. i mean, things explode when he throws them. And his whole bad-*** attitude is off the chain. the guy rocks.

I went through a nigh-crawler phase for a few years and I'm still loyal. i don't know if you guys remember X-men evolution, but as I watched that, I grew appreciation for all of the x-men featured.

i highly respect Batman. His outlook on life and in-depth thinking makes him a great character. the way everyone in the DCU respect him is outstanding as well. if you can get a guy with heat vision, arctic breath, speed, and super strength to not only respect you, but fear you at the same time, then thats power.

Superboy was another favorite of mine before he passed away. He was an interesting character from the biggining and I enjoyed watching him grow. A moment of silence please : (.

i respect Robin as he is becoming more and more like his mentor but yet keeping the balence of kidlyness, ( I just now made up that word). His comics are excellent reading as well.

I don't want to go on too much here so i'll just list my other favorites. Ghost Rider, martian Manhunter, Ion, beast boy, Iron man, green Arrow, Dare devil, And all of the young avengers.

If I had to choose just one superhero, i would have to say Superman. I mean supes been through all the rough years since 1938 and is still one of the most popular icons in the world.

Batman. He is THE hero, because he doesn't need powers to be awesome. Sure, he needs a fat checkbook, but that's mostly just to keep his identity secret. He could fight much of the crime he fights without the gadgets, especially considering what the REAL world is like. If taken outside of his comic book world, he could fight crime here without ever needing things like grappling hooks and batarangs.

Still, the gadgets are cool and he's got a nifty backstory, and fun sidekicks. Tim Drake being my favorite Robin, because Dick Greyson was uber annoying...Though he's cooler now as Nightwing.

A close second-favorite, though, is Oliver Queen. Y'know, the Green Arrow. :D

X Men, and my favorites are Colossus, Beast and Sabretooth.
Colossus because he is this really big guy, strong in the outside but with a sensitive and artistic inside. And he would do anything even sacrifice himself (as he did) for his friends.
Beast, because it shows that you cannot judge a book by its cover (furry cover...jk)
Sabretooth because he's just a bit misunderstood, but when treated well he can really control himself and be a part of a group.
I guess the three have some things that I can relate to and understand that's why they're my favorites.

I have plenty of favorites.

Spider-Man, because he's a very intelligent guy with a great sense of humor and strong moral fiber, who understands that "with great power comes great responsibility" and tries to live up to that belief, but at the end of the day he's also just a normal guy with his own flaws trying to live his life the best way he can. Then there's the fact that he refuses to ever take a person's life, even if it's the most vile of foes and on top of all that, Spider-Man has an incredible will power to endure against all odds and that never fails him even when his super powers do.

Cyclops, because even through all the woes and pains of his life, he never loses his focus and determination in carrying on the fight for ideals that he believes are right. He's the one who cares and sacrifices himself the most so that he may never fail to set the example and lead the others who lack his drive and focus onto better days.

Gambit, because he's the rebel with a heart who lives haunted by his own mistakes and seeks to not only not repeat them, but also to make up for them and give his helping hand in making things right wherever and whenever he can be helpful. Besides, he's just too cool!

Quicksilver, because he sees the world in slow motion and is misunderstood as impatient when he's actually necessarily more patient than anyone who'd criticize him just so he can cope with his situation. He's apparently incorruptible, sticking to his convictions even when offered the position of power that the role of a messiah to his father's acolytes would put him in. He hates that people have certain expectations of him just because of who his father is even though he strives to be the least possible like his father.

Silver Surfer, because he has an untainted perspective on our our world and consequently can see things as they really are, unlike most people, who only see what they want to see and what they were taught to see. He's one of the deepest and most philosophical characters and his mind is open to the universe unlike most people's minds, that are only open to their petty little worlds of prejudice and ultimately unjustifiable conflicts. He is appauled to see all the bad and wrongs in this world, but recognizes that there is also good and that as long as there is good, there is hope.

Hulk, because he's the supreme manifestation of each person's repressed desire to be free of all mental and physical restraints, to be free of all external influence that gradually takes our childhood innocence away, to break away onto a world that knows no boundaries, segregation, prejudice and violence.

Spiderman is my fave.....has been ever since i was a kid.....i like him because yu can identify more with his problems, he's not some hot-shot billionaire with his own company and unlimited resources, he's not an alien from another planet, and he's not a huge guy. He also has the everyday problems of ordinary people on top of his super villian probs....making rent, girlfriend issues, a aunt who is sick all the time, you know LIFE!...lol....thats why Spidey is cool....

It's simple. Batman because he has zero super powers, yet he routinely beats down bad guys. He even defeated superman. Zero super powers vs a guy who can fly, has laser eyes, super strength, speed, hearing vision, ice breath, and can walk through a nuclear explosion unscathed, and he won with zero powers.

Batman all the way.
