On a deserted island.I'd live off coconuts and fish!!Jail I'd have to worry about Big Bertha cutting me.They would be watching my every move and I wouldn't even be a person,I'd be a number.On a deserted island I'd be free to do what ever I wanted.I'd build a hut and swim in the ocean and most of all peace and quiet!!P.S it would have to be the deserted island. I never did a crime so jail is highly unlikely.

Provided the length of time was the same,
jail; the "perception" of freedom would be there on a deserted island. But then you wouldn't have any company and would go batty from the loneliness. Also, with jail, you'd know how long you had to go, and a deserted island would be an infinite series of hope and disillusionment.

It depends-- would I be rescued from the Island? How big is it? Will I find food and water or just bake in the sun under a single, large palm tree? Are there large dangerous animals on it? How do I know its deserted-- what if there are Others? If I am in Jail, how long am I in jail for? What did I do to get in there? Maximum, minimum, or white-collar crime country club? All thing being equal I would probably choose the island, but I don't want to find myself there dying of dehydration 4 days later.

depends on the island and the jail. Also on how long i have to be there.
I mean if it was a nice tropical island with plenty of food and water and some nice areas to climb and swim that would be pretty nice.
If it was a dester island with out much edible plant life and few easy to catch animals that would just suck.
also i would not want to be on an island by my self for more then like a year. they you just start to go nuts. jail is better then that. If it is only for a few months though an island might be nice.

Jail.... at least there would be some social contact and some creature comforts. The solitude of the deserted island ala Tom Hanks in "Castaway" would cause me to lose my mind.

I'll say jail beacuse then i can go to court and protest and they'll take me out
but if I was in a deserted Island I will be lost and there will be no way to survive
