Ok I'm looking for some sort of transformer or volt booster. I have an oven that I want to run at the full power of or near 240 Volts but my power supply is only 208 Volts. My oven is 3 phase and runs at 40 Amps. Any suggestions or recommendations?

The oven can run at 208 but it's not quite the power I was hoping for. I'd really like to get it up to near 240.

I'm not sure you really need the full power, but if so you can get a transformer. Converting between 208 and 240V is relatively common.

You really have a 3 phase oven? If so it must be old, since 208V is the normal 3 phase voltage, not 240V. Is your source power 208V 3 phase or 208V single phase? If you have single phase power at 208V it will be harder to run a 3 phase device.

In case you are thinking "how can single phase be 208V?", this is common in apartment buildings for example that are served by 3 phase power from the utility (at 208V). Single phase loads can be connected to a subset of 3 phase power in general.

Edit: Ok, not 3 phase. Then see my first paragraph. If you really think it is worth more power, 240/208 transformers are common. It wouldn't surprise me if it would cost more than the oven though. The site I put below has a 10kVA transformer for over $1500. For an oven, kVA = kW (volt-amps and watts are the same).

actually.. most 240 applications will work @ 208....

Did you get these numbers by a DVM?
