The capital of Peru is Lima, but it is not representative of the three diverse regions of Peru: the coast, the desert, and the jungle. Lima does not have many tourist attractions and can be very dangerous.
Most people see Lima on a day tour en route to Cusco to visit the famous Inca ruins of Maccu Picchu. There are also fascinating and important archeological sites along the coast near Chiclayo (The Tomb of the Sr. de Sipan rivals that of King Tut) and the Sr. de Sican. There is also a lot of natural beauty and biodiversity to be enjoyed in Peru. Travel is easiest by air.

Lima - but surely you could have done what I just did and typed capital of peru on the search bar !
Asking the question on here seems slower and more longwinded - don't you think ?
