My closest friend for over 20 years has not called or sent a card, anything since the day my Father passed away which was 3 weeks ago. I am so hurt and dissappointed. I don't know how to act when I do finally hear from her. I know she will act like she is so sad and has been thinking of me constantly.

First off I am sorry to hear about your father loosing a parent is always one of the hardest. I lost my mom a little over a year ago. I have no idea how I would feel if my best friend didn't even call me or anything during all that. Sounds like you deserve some better friends love. I am sorry she did that too you that was very mean and unthoughtful.

The truth of the matter is that some people don't have the social graces (common sense) to acknowledge a death when a friend's loved one dies. At the very least, you would think the woman would send a card. That's always a good route to go if people just can't bring themselves to talk about death. Other times though, friends feel that they are not wanted when a friend's family member dies -- they don't want to get in the way or they might think they would make you sad if they reminded you of your recent loss. You might want to phone her and just talk about your loss. Truthfully, I've had at least 3 (long-distance) close friends who lost parents call me long after the deaths of their loved ones. It was cathartic for them and I felt blessed that they would take the time to tell me of their parents' deaths. (Yet remember, I had no way of knowing beforehand that their parents had actually died.)

she probably doesnt know how to react to a friend who lost something important. I think that she is waiting for you to contact her b/c she thinks that u need time to heal. So just call her up and tell her your fine and that u need her support and friendship.
