Um, the JLA. Now, my Marvel info is a little out of date, but the most powerful member on the Avengers I know of, is Thor. While he is a god, so is Darkseid, whom Supes has repeatedly trounced. Green Lantern has unlimited power, as long as he can concentrate, and you don’t get a power ring if you lose your cool in battle. Green Arrow is a better archer than Hawkeye. Flash is faster than Quicksilver, Wonder Woman is WAY more powerful than She-Hulk and Iron Man put together. Now, Cap leading the Avengers is the only weak point in this argument. Captain America is a brilliant tactician. He is a superb fighter, quite strong, incredibly skilled, and most importantly, has been written as being capable of beating Batman before. Unfortunately, good planning only goes so far when your entire team is outclassed, outgunned, and just plain out to get beaten. By the way, go buy JLA/Avengers (drawn by George Pérez!) right now. Superman holding Cap’s shield, and Mighty Mjolnir: priceless.

Justice League VS The Avengers....What a great fight.
Man, I would not want to be in Metropolis, New York or Gotham when that battle goes down.
These are two of comics most popular and powerful super teams, but JLA has a major edge.
The JLA are simply world beaters.
Think about it.
JLA has the insanely indestructible character in Superman. Literally, no alien or thing can beat him accept Krytonite and Doomsday. And even with the whupping that Doomsday gave him, Supes came back from the dead. Krytonite is really over-rated when it comes to Supes, he always gets out of it.
Then you must face Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman a savage amazon beauty, who has defeated Supes in more than one or two occasions.
Then the Avengers must face Green Lantern. How do you defeat the famous ring? What? Is the Wasp going to get a yellow crayon?
Then they must contain the Flash and Martian Manhunter. Tall order. J'onn is one step below Charles Xavier and could probably eat away at the Avengers brains before they knew it. And ol Wally is faster than light. Running circles around a few of the Avengers could suffocate them to death.
Last but overwhelmingly not least, the Avengers must contain the Bat. Everyone says that Cap has his number, but the Bat always finds a way to win.
If Thor totally went beserk he could electrocute the entire League, but doing that would really piss Wonder Woman and Supes off and they would together destroy him. The Avengers has some players, Iron Man could hold his own, but against whom?
The Captain, believe it or not is the only member who could single-handedly destroy the League. Cap, is just a hardshell to crack. Its that whole Super-Soldier mentallity.
In the end JLA wins!!!!

Well the fact that the JLA has Superman kind of says it all. Superman has been written in such a way over the years that he really is just the total package. He is faster, stronger and more invulnerable than any of the members of the Avengers. His only major weaknesses are Magic and Kryptonite and the Avengers are not known for having either. Then of course to throw in Wonder woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter and it starts to look really bad for the Avengers. The Fact is the DC heroes tend to be written overly powerful and Marvel characters are not.

JLA of course. They comprise the top tier of the dc universe, they are made up of the greatest. Avengers have a rotating ensamble so it would depend on which group. But one punch from Superman would send Tony Stark back to the barstool. Thor is the only real powerhouse on the Avengers. Captain America is a super soldier, but WWomen could take him.

The Avengers of course, its only logical.
The Avengers have super mutants, demi-gods, as well as Avengers who are not regulars - but occasionally get called in for special missions.
The JLA on the other hand are an Elitist organization, they are very picky about who can join their little club, which limits their numbers & their strength. Also a number of the members are known pedophiles & perverts, which is why they need the costume to get at kids.
There is more Super "Good" in the Avengers, than the JLA,... sorry dudes & ladies.
Also, at times the Avengers have called in other Teams like the X-Men & the FF4 in times of need.
The Avengers don't use Bully Tactics, like the JLA - but they do have the resouces if they needed to fight a war.
The JLA seems more like a private little neighborhood gang than a collection of super heros.

Since I'm a Marvel guy, I'll go with The Avengers, but you're forgetting about the X-Men, hey have Professor Xavier, not counting Jean Grey (Phoenix) and he can do whatever he wants with the minds of every member in each team. So I would say the X Men are the most powerful team.

Good one, in both have respective powerhouse with DC Superman, Wonderwoman, Martian Manhunter, Green lanterns, and da dangerous wildcard Batman and their other leaguers JSA, Teen Titans, Outsiders to go up against da Avengers da likes of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow not including Ultimates, just like JLA they big I give it to Avengers only cause they fight Gods, Mutants, Cosmic beings, and interdimensional beings just like JLA but they have more allies and bigger and deadlier enemies.

unfortunely JLA right now, but overall Avengers if given an independent writters point here be mine (unbias writter) Superman vs Hulk with banner int. winner Hulk
Captain America vs Batman winner Cap
Iron Man Vs Green Lantren hal jordon winner GL unless iron man goes back to all yellow.
Aquaman vs Namor winner Namor if he's allowed to do all he can do.
Wonder woman vs Scarlet witch winner Wonder woman
Flash vs quicksliver winner they would tie if flash is serious about it.
lastly Thor vs shazam winner Thor only because he is the god of thunder and would lighting blast him til he could not take it.
