Denmark is also known for its generosity with world aid. Despite being one of the smallest countries - a mere 5.5 million people in 2005 - it gives freely to nations in need.

And through their tax structure, which is inarguably one of the highest in the world (comparable to what Americans pay when they have no children and don't own homes), Denmark provides free emergency hospitalization and basic health care to all Danish citizens.

And (you gotta love this!), Danes can get a college education at no cost.

H.C Andersen (The ugly duckling, the little mermaid etc. etc.)
The chair called "The Egg" (the funny one from Men In Black)
Lurpak butter
To be the happiest people on earth! (not kidding, its official)
Lars Von Trier
The Secretary General of NATO (Anders Fogh Rasmussen)
Niels Bohr (The guy who invented the nuclear bomb together with the Americans - Manhattan Project)
H.C Oersted (He discovered aliminium)
Noma ( The best restaurant in the world. Just fact check it if you want)
Denmark is one of, if not the oldest, monarchys in the world. It dates back to the Vikings.
Oh yeah, and Denmark is together with Sweden and Norway famous for the Vikings.
The Faroe islands are an island group under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark, you may have heard of them if you dont like whaling ships and so on. Just dont blame Denmark for that :)

I could go on forever and ever, but any country has a history like this.

Very very little.

Denmark is known for its pastries, and its nearly 100% ethnic homogeneity. Danes pay around 50-60% of their incomes to tax, which is used to pay for education, health care, etc. They have no military to speak of, which allows them to keep their national budget focused on paying solely for these things. Immigrants to Denmark are not allowed to access the paid-for education or health care, which explains a large part of why there are so few non-Scandinavian immigrants in Denmark. Also in order to become a citizen of Denmark, you must prove that you are self-supporting, which is very hard for poor immigrants to do, so they go elsewhere.

I just moved here at there sure seems to be a lot of Hans Christian Anderson focus. Before I came I associated them with Pickled Herring and ...well that turned out to be total right and being really blond...yep that too. One of the coolest things though I think is Tivoli being the oldest amusement park. It is really cool. Copenhagen also has the longest pedestrian street, which I hate because it is so crowded you can hardly move.

Oh and how can I forget Soren Kirkegarde the father of existencialism.

I agree with the other though that it is famous for their resistance to the Nazi's final solution. King Christian rocks!
