Or was it a case over reaction or do you think that it was all a way of the government covering up to what is happening in the Lebannon? Call me a cynic if must but I cannot believe whats happening in our country. On the other hand are the security forces in a no-no win situation be; damned if they do and be damned if they don't.

I am all for transparency, but it is time for the these type of operations to be kept quiet until a result achieved. Someone asked yesterday do the extremists that live in our mist thrive on the media coverage they are getting? Of course the do and it sure helps promote their cause (what ever that is) but all this media coverage does not help the security forces to perform their duites without fear of being watched from every angle. No! it's time to keep the dumb down the media coverage and let the lads get on with the job in hand.

Yes MJohN28497; I take on board what you have said. And I did not explain what I meant very clearly. By saying covering up what was happening in Lebannon. I should have said covering up the PM's stance he has taken over a very volatile situation. He certainly seems to me to have taken a passive stance and appears not to want to be stand up to be counted. And because he has been heavily critised for it, the cynic in me thought that the latest develops have all but detracted media coverage away from the situation in Lebannon and therefore taken the limelight away from Blair. Hope this makes a modicum of sense to you. Thank you!

I've been watching the news and so far there has been no 'evidence'. Go take a look at that sight. It's no altogether academic, but it's an alternative view.
When the news came on I was very suspicious of the massive (real time) coverage the operation was getting. Remember, political risk propoganda is what was used to start a war in the middle east over weapons of mass destruction. Bush and Blair both came out to say that the intelligence was 'flawed'. People were saygin that long before it was admitted.
I agree, keeping an operation secret will do more as far as efficiency goes. If a criminal knows he's being looked for, he's going to lay low. My first impression was that it seems more a show of force than the foiling of a terrorist operation.
If I say say, 'Martians are scum racist terrrorists who have nothing but evil intent', I think the Martians are going to get angry and might want to respond.
The police should protect the public, not scare them with 'suspected' dangers, which is what propoganda is.

the suspicious mentality truly baffles me.
we have access to more information from so many different corners of this planet!
any propaganda handed out in this 21st century has a very, very, very short life!
and NO it is not a "no win situation", It is an on going concern that will continue to be addressed with success because, no one wants to die.
How in the world can you "cover up what is happening in Lebannon"?

WWE consistently unearths the thank you to destroy large Kane storylines, undergo in innovations the whole " what's interior the bag" gimmick from final year. i became pulling for Kane to win, so as that he would desire to flow on and win the WHC at deadly 4 way. Why positioned Rey Mysterio interior the adventure if he can not win the belt. Now that adventure in actuality good factors the suited 2 feuds on SD, Punk and Mysterio and Swagger vs large teach

So long as our security services are not losing a winning battle I'll be quite happy. And I'm amazed how quickly the Labanon cover-up story has spread through the Internet, to my mind from fool to fool.

Well, I wouldn't want to see thousands of people blown up in mid air, with others maimed on the ground, just to see if it was an over reaction or attempted smoke screen. Put it this way, the terrorists are always plotting, and hopefully, the security services are always keeping them under surveilance.

We one a battle at the time of our choosing. The war rages on and will for years. It will last alot longer unless we rally support and just get it over with.

Always better safe than sorry. You wouldn't be asking this question if a few more planes blew up or went down. We cannot live in fear, but we also cannot take any chances.

No win situation because of all the liberal nonsense claiming conspiracy this and conspiracy that.
When they successfully foil a terrorist plot they are criticized.
When a terrorist plot is succesful, like 7/7 they are criticized for being inadequate and useless.
