Greetings, I'm off for a safari / beach holiday in September (from the UK). I would like to clarify the visa on arrival? Is the cost US$50 which must be paid in US dollars? I have also been told GBP£30, payable in sterling!

Many thanks in advance!

The Kenyan authorities are normally happier to take payment in the form of US dollars, and if I remember correctly the visa is $50 if you are travelling on a UK passport. Even if you are coming from the UK but hold another passport the visa costs can be different for different nationalities.

You'll also find dollars very useful for payment for many other things in Kenya. Many traders are happy to take dollars over the Kenyan shilling, so its often good to have small notes when you go to souvenir markets etc.

I have travelled in Kenya a few times and I love the country. The Kenyans are lovely people, the scenery stunning and safari just amazing. Any more question, just post them and I'll happily reply. Have a fantastic time!!

I went to Kenya mid last year, visa on arrival was US$50, payable in either US$ or Kenyan Shilling. As a rule of thumb, most countries would accept US$, not necessarily British Pounds.
Best would be to phone the Kenyan Embassy/consulate in your country to find out how much it is currently, and whether you need a visa (some countries' nationals do not require one if you are staying for less than 30 days as a tourist), but also check on Kenya's official website.

$50 on arrival. best to get the visa before hand from your local embassy, £30 in the uk. Avoids the queues. I was in kenya last week.

first component you'll study about Kenya and Kenyans isn't some thing occurs as "immediately" as you want them too lol. Secondly, certain you may get a Visa contained in the airport in Nairobi, very last I knew they value $50 (that you'll pay in shillings maximum possibly in spite of the undeniable fact that). it is unquestionably continually easier to have each and every thing you want previously you go. yet you may absolutely get one on your way out of the airport. as far as what papers you want, i imagine you in hardship-free words favor your passport. they are temp visas. yet I left Kenya in '08 to pass to the states so do not take my note on that very last area. yet they are person-friendly to get on your way out of the airport. yet do not imagine you'll ever go with the aid of any set time table in Kenya. Kenyans run on a countless clock lol. 1/2-hour to you ought to properly be a pair hours to them. So in case you want to satisfy anybody at a particular time, tell them earlier cos they'll nevertheless be previous due.
