Eccentric people?

Question

What kinds of people do you yourself consider to be eccentric? What does it mean to you.

I always think that it is people who dont' follow others like sheep and stick to their own ideas and ways.

Want to know what YOU think/imagine/perceive these people to be - NOT a dictionary or another side.

I agree that eccentric people are those who don't follow like sheep and stick to their own ideas,etc. BUT, to add to that, eccentric people don't know they are eccentric -- that's a label stuck on them. If someone says they are eccentric, then they're not eccentric because they are trying. In addition, eccentric people don't care if others think they are strange in some way and usually aren't even aware that others think they are strange. Everything above is what makes eccentric people so great.

I don't know why but other people always call me an eccentric, although I considered what I do is just natural for me. Even my boss calls me an eccentric because I always continue working in the office after hour. Actually I only do it because there's so many work that haven't finished yet. Maybe it's because i never ask any overtime.

Now, my own family and friends also calls me an eccentric just because I don't agree with their way of doing things. I do object their way because they always think about money as the number 1 thing and always measure somebody's success by their money, not by their happiness or anything.

So, yes, maybe they call a person an eccentric because that person do not follow others and stick to his own standards. I don't know what's wrong with this though.

Yep. People who follow their own path, don't fit the 'norm', outside the box, march to a different drummer. May have what appear to others as strange ideas - often just way ahead of their time. Many genius characters over history are described as also eccentric. Unfortunately it has a toll too, many very bright people in this category suffer, perhaps their genius isolates them, makes them feel misunderstood, whatever the cause, suicide is abnormally high among such people.
Moral of the story...Show an eccentric some love and compassion today! Seriously! What'll it cost ya? Nuttin!

Its a matter of opinion really. If you do something that does not coincide with my opinion then I will call you eccentric and you will call me eccentric if I do something that does not seem normal to you. So I think everyone is eccentric in their own way.

To me eccentric people are those who do unconventional things, but, more importantly, react and behave in unconventional ways.
I like most eccentric people that I know (I consider myself a little eccentric too), but there are some people that end up acting very rude and inconsiderate due to their eccentricity.
So, here's my idea: be eccentric, but don't be self-centered.
