If you actually have any American friends or have known anyone from that country properly, you would find that the people of that nation are acutally very kind and caring to the world. It's just the government who wants to get involved in everything. I have American friends who find it completely annoying and difficult living outside the US because of this. I think this world is so small, and life is too short to be concerning yourself with this. Would it be better if the US did nothing after 9/11 and just ignored what happened? Basically the middle east is jealous of and hates the entire western world because or our ethics and (lack of in their mind) values. There was a radical muslim on tv last night saying "they " love death the way the west loves life. A huge tragedy happened in the US and somthing had to be done. I'm not agreeing with the war, and I know first hand there are problems in the US as well. Pretty much, Americans are at a loss and nothing they do will every satisfy the rest of the world...so they do what they think is right.

"Poking its nose" into everyone else's wars creates massive profits for the armaments industries in the United States. That's why we were in the Korean War in the 1950's; the Vietnam War in the 1960's; the Cold War in the 1970's and into the 1980's; and Desert Storm in the 1990's. The military-industrial complex in America has a voracious appetite that the U.S. government continues to feed. There's just not that much money at stake in trying to clean up out ghettos, upgrade our rotting infrastructure or enhancing our mass transportation systems. -RKO-

Very good question. I think that it is simply because the rest of the world expects that the USA will do that - and take care of the problem. However, like with anything else, it is impossible to make everyone happy. Perhaps it is one of those down sides of being a so-called superpower.
Additionally, you will notice that they don't nose into ALL wars and problems (i.e., many African and South American conflicts) - just those where a viable US interest is involved. This aspect would seem to take away some of the noble intentions of it.

Because Americans call themselve the only super power but actually they are not. They are just paranoid. They feel themselve unsecured and believe that if they don't rule others they might loose this luxurious life soon thats why they poke their nose into every country.

Because we tried that in the 1930's. We kept our nose out of it and millions died in the 1940's that didn't have to. So unless you want that to happen again, deal.
As for why ghettos exist in our cities, america is the land of opportunity, but only if you're going to improve yourself. We will not support you if you do not at least try to support yourself. People complain there are no jobs, but there are help wanted signs everywhere. They are jobs that unemployed people do not want to do.

I am sure the USA does 'pokes its nose' into the ghettos but not on a national level whereas they are obliged to help out with other wars and problems since they have co-operative ties with other countries.
Its the neighbourly thing to do.
(and no, I am not an american)

Is there a particular war that you think the U.S. had no business in? What does that have to do with the inner-cities problems (money has been thrown in the rat holes for years)?

because the ghetto's are heavily populated with afro-americans, or hispanics, neither of whom are high on the govt's agenda. I guess there hoping that if those people cant get jobs and their lives are so bad that they might just sign up to get out of there. Then they can go an fight the wars that make the people at the top very very rich. Go team America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure other governments/dictatorships,etc.. don't like us getting involved, but noone seems to mind the millions and millions our country gives for aid, and rebuilding. I'm sure there are many country pretty glad that ours is on their side. Maybe our military should get involved with all the gang violence going on in the inner cities, I'm sure everyone would like that.

The ghettos were probably created in the hope that the people in them would kill each other.
