Yes I do think it's necessary to be assertive. At any time, we can be hurt if we don't express ourselves clearly or if we accuse people to hurt us. Being assertive is to express what we want and need without beating around the bush. It's also using "I" instead of "you" in our conversations. It's being who we are without judgment or guilty feelings and it helps to feel less hurt and more happy in life.

For normal average human being fighting all around to go thru life and win the rat-race, yes it is necessary to be assertive as otherwise you are taken for granted and run over.
If you are a Bill gates, you do not have to worry as people will look up to you whichever way you are.
Again it all depends on what you want from life

Being assertive in the right situation can actually change things for the better. It doesn't mean that others will always agree or even listen.

I strongly believe that. If you're not, you'll get stepped on. Always ALWAYS stick up for yourself. Ask questions, express yourself. You can be assertive without being bitchy.
