Simply having power doesn’t necessarily result in corruption. Corruption evolves from one’s personal ethic. A person poor, without power, is no less likely to follow practices which are corrupt to gain money, power, prestige. A person with power will most often be the individual who leads by demonstrating an ethical approach to life.

A person who has reached a position of power has generally acquired that position due to ability, and trustworthiness. Those who do so on a path of corruption are usually holding it for only a fleeting moment. Those who cast doubt as to the ethical nature of those in power, often are crying because they have no ability to gain power themselves.

Of course it does. A blind man in a dark alley knows that and you only have to look to the White House and its history to see that. The trouble with men and women of power is that they forget very quickly to be human beings.
