I find that people always ask me to say it again, and NO ONE seems to be able to spell it right! I picked it because it first looked real good on paper and now I am thinking of changing my company name after 8 months of business. This will probably cost me a lot of money but I dont know what to do. Some say it is a bit much, others say that with good advertising and "branding" it will eventually stick. What do U Think Folks, i need everyone's opinion. Thanks

Any name with the proper attention to branding could succeed. For instance, Xerox ®, on paper looks unpronounceable but we all know it's a leading force in office solution products.

Of course, most folks do not have the advertising budget of Xerox ® but, as others have told you, with advertising & branding there's a good chance of the name doing quite well for you.

One thing I should be sure to mention is that you'll want to ensure that name is legally available as well. This entails searching the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

As far as branding & advertising, here you go:

Have you thought about pay per click programs? The two biggest, I think, are Yahoo! and Google

A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:

1) Create a blog pertaining to your field

2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!

3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.

4) Advertise on Craiglist

Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

I listed a few handy sites & articles relating to marketing, promotion & advertising. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Any Corporate name should reflect the enterprises activities or heritage. It appears to not be a mouthful and if you are into mechinical works then it does the trick. If you are into fixing Citadels then it still does the trick. If you are into religion then it also does the job.

It reflects your position.

There is little point in changing the name after 8 months unless it is for the purpose of changing tack.

I agree that presentation and advertising is the key to getting the word out there. The advertising must be aimed at your target audience.

Your business name is a mouthful indeed.

Cut it down and use it as your Logo. A logo can also work as a good business brand name.

It feels rather like a tongue-twister when I say it out loud.
