If you think that's bad, try living in the US where millions of people are living without medical insurance and can't get basic care.

Just to add to some of the excellent answers here..you are obviously not aware that across the world, habitat is disappearing at an alarming rate. Soon, zoos will be the only place left on the planet for wild animals to survive. Almost every endangered species on the planet is endangered due to habitat loss. I am continually seeing people on here ranting about the evils of zoos, yet I wonder what steps they take PERSONALLY to save wild habitats so that these animals can survive. Most would answer that they do NOTHING.

if we dont provide healthcare for people we certainly wont provide it for animals. here in the US, animals are seen as "property". people often treat them as a jacket. when they get tired of it or bored with it they get rid of it or get a new one. asians are even worse. they eat any animal and recently in china destroyed thousands of pet dogs because of a few rabies incidents. people were walking their dogs down the street & they just killed them right there on the spot. they went out in the middle of the nite making noise to make the dogs bark & just killed every one they heard. at least in china they often see animals more as a food or fur source. of course they revere the panda and then in india the cow. i dont understand their thinking. values and morals are all mixed up. i just do the best i can to be the best i can to animals.

wow. you come to a USA based board, talk about "this country" and are nasty because Americans dare answer. I guess an answer isn't truly needed.

Charity and kindness in health care for animals? Is that what you are worried about? In most countries the health care for humans is substandard.

Don't some Asians eat housecats? Or, is it just puppies?

in singapore they are very very conscious of cleanliness and they would likely kill any animal in the streets and dispose of it, they wont feed them because they dont want any around.
