The project which led to the development of the first nuclear fission bomb was called "The Manhattan Project" and was conducted in the USA by an international team of scientists headed by Robert Oppenheimer, and including such scientists as Albert Einstein, Neils Bohr and Richard Feynman.

After seeing the detonation of the bomb for the first time in the New Mexico desert, Oppenheimer famously said "Now, I am become death, the destroyer of worlds".

I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I thought that Albert Einstein discvered that an atom could be split. And from that, the atomic bomb was developed and created.

Wasn't albert einstein on the deisign team? I thought he invented it. That's what I've read, anyway....
