Depends on the brand. I've known old Kirby's to last forever when they have been taken care of and serviced properly. If you plan on buying a new vacuume go to a vacuume dealer where they do repairs and service. Cheap vacs out of those "mart" type stores end up having to be replaced every few years and do not clean as well as a heavy duty machine which can last a lifetime with good care. If you are on a tight budget the vacuume dealers often have used high quality machines that have been traded in.

Hmmm I Don't Even Know There's Some Out There That Will Last For A Couple Months Then There Are Some That Last For Decades...So Can't Really Give You An Average Lifespan....Maybe 8-10 Years? Properly Maintained/Repaired/Cleaned...

It depends on how much it sucks... I mean is it cheap or is it a little more expensive. I've had 3 over the last 9 years. The first one was a dirt devil and lasted about 4 years and then died. The 2nd was a wind tunnel type and lasted 3 years. I now have a eureka. Its still going at about 2 years. The first and last are bag type(about $100) and the wind tunnel was a bag-less($200). My mom has had her (very expensive $900) vacuum for about 12 years.

10 years. It depends very much on the make and what you do with it (daily or weekly use)
