Surely that's like having a "No P!ssing" section in a swimming pool.

Hi, For smokers, it is an awesome thing to have divided sections because we are away from the non-smokers who hate the smell, hate second hand smoke, and it is away from infants and children......( iam a nice smoker, I do not want to upset anyone),but when you have your own smoking section it is sweet, then you do not have to hear people whine and complain....because you know they do...
Smokers are more relaxed,I have been told by many servers because they tip better...beacause they relax and smoke a cigerette or two before their meal arrives, and after dinner they drink a coffee or coffee drink and relax and smoke again, their isn't any pressure on servers......
i think this country and any other country that is banning smoking in pubs and restaurants and even at the workplace is wrong....I am only a social smoker and I do not dicriminate against smokers...it is everyones right too choose what their habits are......

Having partitions to physically divide smoking sections would only make the place look and feel smaller. Not exactly the right thing to do for a restaurant - especially if it's not that big to begin with.

Open smoking/non-smoking areas are supposed to work by engineering the ventilation system so that the extract points for the vents are located at the smoking area, and vent supply points are located at the non-smoking area. This way, air moves from the non-smoking to the smoking area making it very unlikely for smoke to come into the non-smoking bits.

In practice, some places either don't have this system installed, or don't maintain them and they either break down, the filters get clogged or don't have them on at all.

Where I live, smoking was banned 2 years ago. There was a lot of whining from smokers at first but life goes on and pubs, clubs etc.are just as full as ever. It is so much better eating in a restaurant without that stink around you.

I know what you mean! It doesn't stop the smoke at all! In my local pub (also a restaurant) there are a few rooms only one of which is smoking. This works really well, not surprisingly they have won awards for clean air in the pub.

Go to Scotland or Ireland where it's not a problem.
Or stay out of smoking pubs/restaurants until the ban comes in next year.

Come to Scotland - there's no smoking in any restaurants or pubs - maybe the same legislation will be introduced to England soon too

Smoke is a gas which will strengthen to fill the area wherein it extremely is contained. I doubt if eating places with the right filtration structures in many cases fail to scrub and alter the clear out gadget to maintain them working top. inspite of each and every thing, their concentration is serving nutrition and not irritating approximately air bypass.

Yeah bring on Summer 2007, no more second hand smoke in England and finally there is justice for non-smokers.

Smokers smoke all you like, do it in your home or the outdoors.
