I don't know about UAW but I can give my opinion on unions. On one hand you could say that a union is good because it protects its members and makes it really hard for you to loose your job. The problem is it keeps Screw Ups working, often making your job harder, as well as keeps lazy people employed, also making your job harder. Unions also tend to pin the managment and employees verse one another. If there was ever a true injustice it would be good to have one though.

I am opposed to the current practices of unions. In the beginning and for many years, the union had a sincere and important mission; make working conditions better for its members and make sure the members are protected from abusive management.

Today, however, they have transformed in to a different organization that fails to represent its membership at large and often are involved in situations that of no great benefit. But, it secures the leaderships positions and pay.

I am opposed to unions. They produce nothing. They are an expense to union members. Too many of them are involved in politics. They inflate the wages of union members. The contracts are inflexible. Employers have to pay more to get their products made, and therefore have to charge more to try to earn a profit. If the competition is pricing products lower, the employers do not have the flexibility to cut wages, cut employees, modernize, change work rules.

I think they drive up prices and often make unrealistic demands of employers.
