Ladybugs usually are said to be good luck. But from my understanding it is if a ladybug lands on you, then you will have good luck.

Apparently ladybirds are really unpleasant to eat. I mean really unpleasant. You probably did well not to eat yours.
I also hear that ladybirds live mainly on aphids. So I would guess that if you are an aphid it would not be lucky to find one above your bed.
I assume you are not an aphid - since you are still here to type this question. Perhaps you went to bed with an aphid last night. That would explain why the ladybird visited you (and also why you woke up alone).

I read that you make a wish on the ladybird, then gently blow on it. If it flies away then your wish will come true.
I've tried it but it didn't work.
