Terrorists attack innocent people all over the world. Outside their "circle of cause". Like Al-Qaeda. They were funded by our government to fight the communists but when the cold war ended so did the CIA support and that left mercs without a leash or a cause. They turned into criminals!!
Freedom fighters simply fight for their freedom against an occupying oppressor (Hamas and Palestinians against Israel and Hezbollah against Israel). They usually keep the struggle within their area/country!!
FF usually have no means or real weapons because they are occupied and therefore oppressed so they use weapons that our western society can not comprehend (stones, and home made bombs). Anything we don't understand we tend to judge and condmen!!
A laser-guided missile is not a more humane killing tool than a suicide bomber. It is simply a more tech advanced one. If you don't want to see suicide bimbers anymore among FF, simply provide them with some real weapons!!

There are two kind of terrorists.
Privileged people like Ben Laden who want to destroy the western civilization for religious AND political reasons and their followers.
Persecuted people who have no other means for defending themselves.
In that second category, I see only two clear cut cases: Palestinian terrorists and Chechen terrorists.
Let's not forget Israelis also used terrorism in the beginning. For instance, the assasination of count Folke Bernadotte.
