I'm going back a long way here, but when I was a kid (around 1980 I think) I went to see a film called The Fog, it was rated AA (age 14 if memory serves) and no doubt... it scared the S**T out of me! About these nasty Lepers who go a roaming in the fog at a seaside town. Gruesome... what was worse, when I came out of the cinema it was foggy and my route home was all through woods... don't think I've ever moved so fast in my life!!! Think a modern remake has been done but don't know the Cert.

The Fog was scary but not that scary in todays standard.
The Omen was scary.

There are also some foreign films that are so scary. Like Japanese, Thai and Korean horror movies that will scare the **** out of you.

Okay - scariest film debatable, but certainly without a doubt the scariest Disney film - Watcher in the Woods. Betty Davis and the seance to talk to her dead daughter Karen nearly put me over the edge at 6. Still gives me shivers 20+ years.

For a 12 or pg film, I reckon the latest Harry Potter film is quite scary!

blair witch...
but not because of the witch or the woods! it's those actors in the film that really sell it. They were amazingly well cast. I find that the woods weren't scary, but the moment they went inside the house, for some reason it freaked me out.
the whole thing with the map and the taunts were strong, very strong scenes. don't watch sequels!

the scarist movie tht i have seen would have to be CandyMan that still scarys me now i think its all the bees
