I have thought about this before and really didn't know if anyone else has. glad to see your question. Can you imagine if it irrupts, then it will block out the sun due to the ash?

"super" volcanoes are a not uncommon phenomenon. They have existed historically around the world. Here is a site covering some of the super volcanoes that may become active again: http://www.solcomhouse.com/yellowstone.htm
Certainly if the Yellowstone caldera explodes people within a 600 mile radius will be in trouble, and the ash will certainly affect the global climate (Mt. St. Helens had an affect on the climate and it was not a super volcano.) However, all of these sites are being monitored, and, though not "fool proof" it is likely we will have plenty of warning before it explodes. Volcanoes, like earthquakes, like hurricanes are part of the natural process of our world. Although we can try to monitor and predict these events, the best thing to do is avoid development in high risk areas.

it rather is named "Yellowstone" by using fact the sulfur interior the water table and warm springs stain the rocks and stones . . . yellow. Yellowstone lies on the continental ridge . . . so all rivers from there the two bypass west to the Pacific or east to the Atlantic. Scientists have been carrying out surveys at Lake Yellowstone for the previous countless a protracted time. The lake has somewhat tilted 20 ft in one direction by using fact the earth on the different factor is increasing by using magma chamber below the park. So whilst they are announcing it rather is an lively volcano . . . it rather is lively. extra like a valid asleep sizable !!!

Yep, here's a.little food for thought...the cable channels(discovery, science, national goegraphic) have been showing ALOT of programs on volcanism. Now if a eruption was coming would you just say to the people Yellowstone is going to blow. Or would you educate the people subtlely (via tv shows) so you get a informed population vs a uneducated mindless population in a panic.
I think? I hope it doesn't blow during my or kids lifetime cause it WILL BE very bad news for the entire planet

the entire park is basically a giant volcano and were it to suffer a massive eruption a lot of the world would be screwed. the ash content wopuld probably obscure the sun for quite some time, not much we can really do with it. best idea woul probably be to chemically remove the ash though that would cause quite a few other problems!

California has dozen of inactive volcanoes, which are a part of the ring of fire. My mother saw Mount Lassen blow in 1914 as a very young girl. Of greater concern would be for Mount Fuji to blow in Japan. They would have to liquidate their American assets, virtually bankrupting us.

yes. loving natural disasters, and hating humanity, i'm excited. ditto cali, "big one" (i live on the fault!), increrased hurricane activity, tornado activity, underwater seismic activity with tsunamis... it's all good. except for global warming. i hate the heat. and, no, i'm not kidding.
