Those resolution only worsen the situation rather then solve it, given the new resolution proposed by the US to dismantle Hezbollah but doesnt adress Israels Ocupation of Southern Lebannon which is a major issue for the arab world seeing that israel might aquire the land for its own and do what it has done to the palestinians in the past and expell the current population and exploit the area for its recources . There should be a resolution to keep israel within its own borders and disram Hezbollah so neither side can pose a threat . Both sides have a lot of answering to do in this war, Israel for using White Phosphorus laced missiles on civilian populations which by definition are chemical weapons and its use of cluster bombs which have been responsible for killing hundreds of civilians and Hezbollah for there ball bearing rockets .

You're exactly right. Unfortunately, both are part of the security council in the UN. There's not much you can do against their veto except win the vote of everyone else to overrule them.
When the time comes to put them to the test, I have a feeling they will either abstain from voting or finally give in. Economically, it's in both Russia and China's best interest to keep a good relationship with both the EU, the U.S., and NATO.

To do thiswould be a very tragic thing indeed. The United Nations is possibly the only salvation for this planet. If nations would just let it do it's work the world would be a greatly better place Do you see this George W. Bush because this means you.

Look a little deeper and see how the US and Israel vote together on so many issues and go against the tide. It is politics pure and simple. It is a democratic institution and many people scream for democracy yet when it doesn't go the way you want you want to throw those people out. What don't you understand?
