In the UK, Top Cat was bought by the BBC.
However, 'Top Cat' was also the long established name of a tinned cat food. And so, because of the BBC's rules about advertising, they changed the name of the show to Boss Cat... as if that would mean anything to 5-10 year olds!
But the title song and all of the dialogue was still the same... which would be most confusing. Why, if his name was 'Boss Cat', did all of the other characters call him T.C??
No wonder half of Britain is semi-illiterate!
The BBC have a lot to answer for!
