Yes they do. They also tend to fidget. They can't look you in the eyes very long and when they answer they look away. I watched a program about body language and also about them in lie detectors. They spoke about when people lie and how they act. There was a section about body language and that actions speaks louder then words.

The problem with these kinds of statements is they are presented as absolutes. A person looking to the left, in and of itself, is not necessarily an indication of lying. Keep in mind there are many variables including cultural differences, hand domination and social skills. Dismissing other cues and information while focusing on one *sign* is probably not a good way to determine if someone is being truthful.

The last I heard, position of the eyes is not a valid indicator of the truth, or the right is the position that indicates a lie is being given. I prefer the former presumption, because I find it deplorable to convict a person based on where his eyes are, though I must admit I'd interpret some eye positions as rudely expressed complaining.

surely, sometimes they must. is it an accurate way of telling if someone's lying? no. a careful study of the person's habits, while lying and not, might give you a clue as to how they act when they lie. otherwise, yer screwed. in fact, if they catch on that you're watching them, they may INVENT a "tell" that will fool you thinking into that's what they do, whilst lying, and you'll be TOTALLY screwed.

Not really true, cos you may just look away to avoid eye contact with the person you are telling the lie to. Some good liers can lie to you and you won't even know that they are lying =)

When answering a Q' you know the answer to you look up and to the right! when making up an answer you tend to look down and to the left! as well as other signs such as twitchy fingers and sweat pouring from your forehead that's a big giveaway!

A good liar once told me that the way to lie is to concentrate on one eye because when telling a lie we look decidedly shifty because we look from one eye to the other.

Cus they are accessing the left side of their brain which deals with creativity not memory.
