PCI is a general purpose expansion slot, so there are many things that can go in a PCI slot.
- Video cards (slower ones)
- Hard drive controllers
- network cards (ethernet, wifi, etc)
- tv tuner cards
- sound cards
- modems
- usb adapters
- firewire adapters
That covers the major things, but there are still quite a few esoteric devices that work with PCI.
